Communicating with Students with an Innovative New Technique that Works!
Creating safe schools today is essential to ensuring students’ academic and social success. Most efforts at preventing school violence have centered on preventive measures - like metal detectors, video cameras, security guards, and uniforms. But the key to preventing violence in all forms (whether it is bullying, aggressive classroom behavior, gun use, or organized gang activity) is not taking away the weapons, but changing the students' behavior.
There have been numerous programs developed, many now outdated, that try and establish environments in which students feel safe, connected, valued, and responsible for their behavior and learning. With new research and data, we have developed a program that has proven highly effective. The most positive, proven results to date are delivered through the interactive learning software from MOTINT.org.
Truly Interactive Curriculums! Engaging, Challenging and Non-Threatening!
These CD-based Learning Scenarios are based on data and research including a 17-state student focus group organized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. These focus groups weeded out the realistic from the unrealistic scenarios. In addition, they identified that they know when they are being pitched or preached to, and that allowing them to make their own decisions through embedded testing had a far greater impact than listening to a lecturer.
Each CD is constantly kept up-to-date to deal with problems that confront today's youth.
Through interactive video examples with a focus on realistic real-life scenarios, and by asking teens to make choices in these situations, the actual consequences of their decisions, right or wrong, can be previewed for each participant. This is highly effective in helping adolescents learn good decision making and the consequences of their decisions in various aspects of their lives from gang involvement to shoplifting to drug use.
"Evidence Based" assessments indicate:
Positive change in behaviour
Thinking about consequences
before acting
Better academic performance
Lower drop-out
rate
Lower criminal activity
